The Best Halloween Costumes for the Type B Girls

Every year when Halloween rolls around, so does the competition to have the most niche, well-executed costume in town. It can be a big ask — requiring multiple Amazon orders, try-ons, and texts to the group chat. If you’re Type B, the whole thing can feel pretty overwhelming.

Thankfully, we’re here to help. There are a few ultra-current costume ideas for the chronically online that are not only super easy to pull off, but will have everybody in the vicinity saying “genius.” From Kelly Clarkson’s wooden bird to Channing Tatum’s not-so-secret finsta, we have a few ideas that will make you the belle of the ball… and the phone cases to match.

Kelly Clarkson’s $15,000 Bird

kelly clarkson

Even if you’re not a fan of Kelly, don’t live in New York City, and have never visited the store ‘Art of Play,’ you’ve likely heard that Kelly tried to purchase a wooden, wall-hanging bird called Molly that sings when you crank a lever. What ensued was pure chaos. Kelly alleged on Twitter that the store implied she couldn’t afford the $15k bird, the store hit back that the bird wasn’t for sale and directed her to a similar object. She responded by accusing them of lying, they claimed her public statement was irresponsible… it was a whole thing.

ANYWAY, if you wanna look cute and fun this Halloween, a bird costume is not only easy (seriously, all you need is makeup, a beak, or even a pullover mask), but everyone will gag when you share the reference.

Charli XCX Side-Eying Taylor Swift

charli xcx

Charli has been everywhere this year, as usual, but her most viral moment came in reaction to Taylor Swift’s VMA acceptance speech. In this era of her career, Charli has also been keeping her look pretty consistent: a bra, low-rise pants or shorts, and platform shoes (all-black everything, of course). Throw on some eyeliner, flat-iron your hair — or, of course, opt for a black wig if you’re gonna commit — and you’ve got Charli. Just make sure to look less than impressed for most of the night.

‘Feeling Like Nicole’ Nicole Kidman

Adela

We didn’t get a song of the summer this year, so Adela came out swinging (literally). As Nicole geared up for yet another press tour this fall, the release of pop banger “Nicole Kidman” couldn’t have been better-timed. The track has catapulted up the charts to the point everyone knows its lyrics (you know, that talk about Nicole’s role of Satine in Moulin Rouge, and of course, the girls pushed-up to the high heavens).

If you’re hoping to feel like Nicole, Adela-style, you know what you need: a corset and a pair of high heels. All set.

Nikki in Obsession

Nikki from Obsession

Every so often a horror film grips the nation, and this year it was Obsession. Not only did it do serious numbers at the box office — massively eclipsing its $750k budget — but it made an instant star of Inde Navaratte, the actress who plays Nikki.

If you want to pull off the Nikki look, find an oversized V-neck white shirt and splatter it with blood. Seriously, that’s all it takes.

Channing Tatum’s Burner Account

channing tatum troll account speculation

Oh, we’re getting NICHE now. If you weren’t chronically online last month, people began speculating that Channing Tatum was behind a troll account “Nonya_bidness” after finding a stream of pro-Channing, anti-Zoe Kravitz comments (Zoe is Channing’s ex). The evidence was compelling: the account had one follower, and that was Channing Tatum. The story blew up so quickly that Channing himself came out and denied any association with the account.

And yet, the Nonya_Bidness icon, a green butterfly with black tips, has become synonymous with the would-be scandal. If you want a super current costume that certainly no one else will think of, go with a black dress and green butterfly wings. If you really want to bring it home, make a sign with the handle name, or even ‘not not Channing Tatum.’

Zara Larsson’s Press Tour

Zara Larsson

2026 was the year of the press tour and Zara Larsson truly did that. If you feel like the Midnight Sun-ification of it all is a little played out, channel Zara instead with Y2K pieces that you probably already own. Then we’d recommend a blonde wig, sky-high heels, and an extreme makeup look (head to Zara’s own makeup artist Sophia Sinot’s page to recreate the look).

A Scrunch Short Gym Girl

gym outfit

You thought we were online before? You ain’t seen nothing yet. When comedian Shane Gillis took to the SNL stage to decry the provocativeness of female gym attire — specifically, scrunch shorts — he incited the wrath of girls everywhere.

This Halloween, pull on a pair of scrunch shorts and a sports bra (you could even write ‘wh0re’ somewhere on your attire — Shane’s words, not mine), then head out for a night of dancing. This costume is not only for the girls in the best way, but guarantees you all-night comfort.

Hannah Horvath’s Big Night Out

Hannah Horvath

Did someone say Girls is coming back??! It’s been a huge year for Lena Dunham, who also released her second memoir Famesick this year, which means there’s no better time to pay tribute to “the voice of a generation.”

You might remember one of Girls’ most iconic scenes, when Lena’s character Hannah and her gay bestie Elijah head out for a night of hedonism. Hannah’s bright yellow, netted shirt makes the scene. She does go bra-less, so it may be worth investing in a couple of pasties in case you don’t want to go all the way. Still, we promise, the people who get it will get it.
