Demna's Gucci Debut Is All We Can Think About

Milan Fashion Week has officially concluded and we cannot stop thinking about the Gucci show. Not only was it Demna’s first fashion week with Gucci as creative director, but we saw a few familiar faces strut down the runway.

Demna, the former creative director of Balenciaga, is ushering in a new era at Gucci. When questioned about his aspirations for the show, he conveyed to Luisa Zargani that it represents his "proposition of what Gucci will become."

He has dedicated time to studying Gucci's legacy and understanding the elements that cultivated its devoted following. Demna's vision is to reconnect Gucci with its fundamental heritage, infused with the signature edginess he is known for. The brand's deep connection to its past is crucial; Gucci is intrinsically tied to its heritage and cannot exist without it. Demna intends to showcase heritage and evolution as a unified force, honoring the brand's roots while continually moving forward, as successful companies must.

The Gucci show masterfully blended pure Gucci elegance with Demna's signature iconic style, maintaining the artistry of both. It was a true Gucci experience. Deciding on a favorite look is tough, but it has to be Look 52, worn by the beautiful and talented Sydney Lynn Carlson. That’s right, our very own co-founder and founder of Lynnee, Sydney! She had the incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk in the Gucci show in Milan on Friday. For a debut, she showed no sign of nerves; her walk was brimming with confidence, grace, and an undeniable 'lethal face card.' And the look itself? Utterly breathtaking—it leaves us speechless, only able to gasp.

52 — Sydney

Sydney Carlson models Gucci's Look 52 with a fur shawl, pinstriped pants, and long sleeve.

Sydney wore a dark brown fur shroud, dark blue crop pinstriped shirt, and black denim pants with a black leather belt. With silver jewelry, black pumps, and a black purse tying the look together.

It was an extremely elevated business chic look, with the famous Demna touch. It was fierce and fearless, leaving us speechless as we watched our Sydney steal the show.

This show marked Sydney’s first-time walking a runway, and of course our co-founder Devon Lee Carlson was in the crowd cheering on her sister. With tears in her eyes, Devon expressed how proud she was of Sydney. Devon even took us behind the scenes while she got ready to watch Sydney stun the crowd (which you can find on our instagram!). We couldn’t keep our eyes off Sydney, as she walked past us we were ready to follow her anywhere!

73 — Gabbriette

Gabbriette wore a black shimmery and sheer mini dress, paired with black pumps and black purse hanging from its straps.

She was absolutely breathtaking. With her signature party girl look, Gabbriette brought the right amount of edge Demna is known for. She gave an angel of darkness with her look, leaving us wanting more as she strutted down the runway. Her walk was perfect and her beauty was radiating. Our girl does it everytime!

75 — Alex Consani

In contrast to the darker themes from the previous looks, Alex Consani wore a maxi-length metallic gold dress that was long-sleeved and had a turtleneck. It was paired with gold pumps, gold jewelry, and a gold clutch.

A seasoned veteran to the runway, yet she still leaves us in awe each time she walks. The golden hue that followed her as she walked wasn’t just the dress, it was her energy. The energy she fills with confidence and grace. An amazing addition of contrast in the show.

Gucci's future

The runway was electric, a display of pure passion. With striking models and breathtaking designs, Demna successfully achieved his goal of bringing Gucci "back into cultural relevance.” This new direction for Gucci under Demna has us eagerly anticipating the future, much like this new chapter for Sydney. We are so excited to see her walk in more shows!
