Hamzah and Martin, the internet’s best friends, released two custom Wildflower phone cases this month. One in brown, titled ‘Soulmates,’ shows two yellow figures holding hands and creating a heart shape with their bodies. The second case is on a white background filled with different colorful shapes. Both designs are a callback to their Slushy Noobz and Out of Character podcast merch. 

Wanting the collection to “feel familiar,” the duo chose to pull designs from their older collections as a “sort of fan service to those who have been with us for a while.” The designs used on their cases are a modernized version of their early days. 

According to Martin, the journey to creating the case felt a little like “WTF, then OMG, then LOL.” When Wildflower first reached out about collabing, the boys couldn’t believe it. They loved Wildflower, but they weren't sure if the feelings were mutual. Turns out, they were. Wildflower and Slushy Noobz began working together to create two special cases specifically designed for Hamzah, Martin, and all the people who can’t get enough of them (like us here at WF). 

The Wildflower and Slushy Noobz connection organically blossomed the same way  it did between Hamzah and Martin. All through the power of a DM. Hamzah dm’ed Martin and, thankfully, Martin responded. From there they became friends and created a partnership so beautiful it makes us all jealous. When asked about how a DM turned into Out of Character/Slushy Noobz, Martin had a wise response.

“A DM turns into a friendship every single day somewhere in the world. It's about the effort you give it after. It’s like planting a seed, you have to water it and give it sunlight so it blossoms in the flower we have today. A wildflower.” Beautiful words, truly. 

Something that makes Slushy Noobz so unique and engaging is their authenticity. The duo makes us laugh because they show us raw footage of their friendship. It’s just two people genuinely enjoying each other’s company. Although their following has grown exponentially, they don’t think their popularity has anything to do with changing their authenticity. It might change their relatability but not authenticity, “people get those mixed up sometimes.” 

The brick wall background for their Out of Character podcast “reminds us of when the podcast was at Martin’s first apartment in Toronto.” It helps keep them grounded because it shows them how much they’ve grown from their first episode. Even as the numbers keep growing on their platforms, the boys find a way to stay true to themselves.

Canada is the home base for Slushy Noobz, and to honor that they set out on a tour to explore more of it. It was something new for them to try out and ended up being something they wanted to continue. It helped them explore where they live, something they urge everyone to do. The tour has been extremely fun for them, and their favorite part “has been meeting all of the amazing people in all of the places we’ve been.” Their least favorite part has been all the mosquitos they’ve had to fight off. And of course, their must have on tour is “a solid phone case with a cute design.”

Lastly, the boys answered some rapid fire questions to help us get to know them better. 

Martin, are you still keeping your other collab channel (mentioned in the Draw my Life 100k subs vid) as a backup plan or are you fully committed to Hamzah now? 

I am 100% fully committed to Hamzah. No Plan B.
